The difference you make by joining the ITSD MyWay

ITSD is excited to host our second ITSD MyWay walk to raise funds for Dementia Australia.

Through my own personal experience of losing my dad to dementia and sharing my journey with others it became evident that I was not alone and that there a many experiencing their own journey.

DEMENTIA is an illness what causes progressive decline in a person’s ability to function as they used to. It can affect memory loss but also ability to rationalise, motor skills, social and intellectual abilities.

In 2026 there are an estimated 446500 Australians living dementia, an estimated 29000 people living with young onset dementia (aged 18-65) and an estimated 1500 children with childhood dementia.

ITSD hopes that our walk will raise awareness of these figures. To help people step forward for support for those diagnosed, caring and those who may suspect a diagnosis.

We hope that raising awareness and starting conversations will bring down the walls and the stigma associated with the word Dementia.

Awareness is key and early detection creates opportunities for support to live a fulfilled life for as long as possible. So that self-advocacy, respect and support of our loved ones can be maintained.
