Hayley van Houten

Share my fundraising effort with your network and let's beat dementia, together.

I'm raising money for my Grandmother, Fay and the 433,300 Australians living with dementia.

On Sunday, 1 March, I'm taking part in Cronulla's Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds to support Australians impacted by dementia. This is a cause close to my heart and I would love your support.

Please make a donation to support my efforts and help us reach our goal to beat dementia.

Not many people know, but dementia is Australia's leading cause of death. By 2058 it's expected that over 800,000 Australians will have dementia. But we can change this.

All money I raise will support the work of Dementia Australia and help provide vital support services like counselling, support groups, education, and research to help find a cure.

Together we can achieve a lot. Your donation would mean the world to me.

Thanks for your support!

I'm on my way to becoming a Gold Level Fundraiser. Can you support me with a small donation?

My Updates

Repping my MW&J cap with my kitty's support

Whilst preparing this journey, I cut my foot (twice) and have, for some reason, suffered pretty bad blisters. I didn't progress as much as I wanted to, but I am not letting it stop me committing to this race.

Trying a running vest!

Did I leave the house looking like a dork? Yes. But did I run the furthest I ever have and feel the strongest I ever have? ALSO YES.

My Journey - for myself, my Nan, and everyone affected by dementia.

I am excited to share that I am doing my first ever charity run - and of all causes for it to be for, I find it incredibly special that my first is for Dementia Australia.
In November I decided I wanted to participate in a running event - as someone with a heart condition, I wanted to challenge myself, prove that I wasn't limited by my condition. When I found the Memory Walk and Jog for Dementia Australia, it pushed me even harder to achieve a distance I wouldn't have thought possible for someone like me, as the cause is something very close to my heart.
I am pushing myself and running as much as I can on the 1st of March for my Nanna, and all the people in Australia affected by this terrible disease. Seeing first hand this disease and how it affects not only the individual but those around them, research into dementia is crucial as the number of those diagnosed is growing at an alarming rate.
I might not run the whole way, but I am going to give it everything I have.

Thank you to my sponsors
