Help me raise money in honour of my Grandmother, Jutta and the 400,000 Australian’s living with dementia.
On Sunday 19th May, I’m taking part in Sydney’s Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds to support Australian’s impacted by dementia by running 7.5km. I will also be partaking in the Cronulla Memory Walk & Jog on March 10th.
In addition to this, starting Monday 18th December I will be running 20km every week for the next 20 weeks which will be a significant challenge for me as I don’t run often.
This cause is very close to my heart as in 2011 my grandmother Jutta was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. Unfortunately, in January 2017 she passed away. Jutta was the most incredibly kind-hearted, selfless, and generous woman. It is extremely difficult to watch the people you love suffer through this disease, debilitate, and become unrecognisable.
Dementia is the leading cause of death for women and the second leading cause for all Australians and it is likely that it will soon become the leading cause of death. (https://www.dementia.org.au/statistics).
All proceeds go directly to Dementia Australia to help provide vital support services like counselling, support groups, education, and research to help find a cure. I would be incredibly grateful for any donation you can make no matter how big or small!
Together we can help support those impacted by dementia and hopefully one day we will have a cure. Together we can beat dementia.
