Why am I doing the Memory Walk?
My Pop was an absolute legend and I am so blessed to have so many memories with him and my Nan. He took me on weekend trips to Bathurst all the time growing up, he was the man who taught me how to drive, how to play chess, how to play the piano accordion and to never ever give up!
I was so saddened to see my Pop, the man who could do absolutely everything, slowly forget everything he knew. When he started deteriorating, I felt terrible, I wish I could have done something to help him.
And then one day he forgot who I was, I was absolutely heart broken. I had this strong connection with my Pop but all of a sudden to him, I was a stranger. It was so very hard.
I will never forget all of the great memories I have with him, I will always remind my own children how awesome he was and how important he was to me.
So in memory of my amazing Pop, I am going to walk & jog to raise funds for people with dementia!
