For Mum
This year, my family and I are taking part in the Memory Walk & Jog for Dementia — and we’re doing it for someone incredibly special to us: our mum.
Mum is only 53 years old, and she’s living with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. It’s something we never expected to face so soon, and it’s been one of the hardest things to watch someone you love go through. Alzheimer’s slowly changes a person in ways that are difficult to describe — not just their memory, but their confidence, their independence, and the little moments that once came so easily.
But through it all, Mum continues to show so much strength, warmth, and love. She still makes us laugh, still lights up the room in her own way, and reminds us how important it is to hold onto the memories we have.
We’re walking for her — to honour who she is, to raise awareness, and to support others walking this same road. Every step we take is for Mum, and for the thousands of families across Australia living with dementia.

On Sunday, 22 February, we’ll be joining the Canberra Memory Walk & Jog to show our love and help Dementia Australia.
