I'm raising money for my Grandfather, Ron Hoelscher and the 433,300 Australians living with dementia.
On 13 February 2026 our wonderful Pa, father, husband, and friend Ron Hoelscher received his angel wings and was called home to God. To honour and celebrate his great life, I am taking part in Brisbane's Memory Walk & Jog on Sunday, 14 June to raise funds to support research of the disease that took our friend long before his passing.
This is a cause close to my heart and I would love your support.
If you wish to celebrate Ron’s life and support this cause, please make a donation to support my efforts and help us reach our goal to beat dementia.
Not many people know, but dementia is Australia's leading cause of death. By 2058 it's expected that over 800,000 Australians will have dementia. But we can change this.
All money I raise will support the work of Dementia Australia and help provide vital support services like counselling, support groups, education, and research to help find a cure.
Together we can achieve a lot. Your donation would mean the world to me.
Thanks for your support!

"Although I didn’t have the privilege of meeting Ron in person, I feel that in some way I came to know who he was through Jan and Craig, through the stories they shared about their life with him and the love that surrounded their family. There are memories Jan has shared that I carry with me — especially the image of everyone gathered in bed when the kids would wake up and join them, talking and laughing together. It’s such a simple yet beautiful picture of warmth, connection and family, and it’s a feeling that is difficult to put into words. I also smile when I remember the story of their first date, when Ron insisted on walking Jan home, only for her home to be right across from the place they had just left. These small moments say so much about the kind of person he was and the life they built together. Seeing the love Jan and Ron shared has been deeply moving. It is the kind of love that leaves a lasting mark on everyone around it — the kind of love many of us hope to experience in our own lives one day. I feel incredibly grateful that these stories were shared with me. They are memories that reflect a life full of love, kindness and presence, and they will continue to live on through everyone who knew and loved him. With deepest sympathy and love."
