Our family lost our dad, Malcolm on 31st March 2026, after a very long journey with dementia.
He was a great man. He had his faults—like all of us—but he loved his family fiercely, worked hard his entire life, and had an amazing sense of humour that stayed with him even as dementia slowly took so much away. He was generous, loyal, and always ready with a laugh or a helping hand.
Dementia changed our dad, but it never took away who he was at his core. Watching someone you love fade piece by piece is heartbreaking, and it’s something no family should have to face without support. The day we had to put Dad into full time care was one of the worst days of our lives.
We’re raising funds in his memory to support dementia research and awareness. Dad had excellent care and we were fortunate to be very well supported by his team of carers. However much more can be done to support other families and improve outcomes for future generations.

Did you know that 1.7 million carers, family members and friends are involved in the care of someone living with dementia in Australia. That's why we're hoping to raise as much money as possible. We'll be walking, jogging, and running to stop dementia in its tracks.
