Share my fundraising effort with your network and let's beat dementia, together.

I'm raising money for my Dad, George and the 433,300 Australians living with dementia.

On Sunday, 29 March, I'm taking part in Perth's Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds to support Australians impacted by dementia. This is a cause close to my heart and I would love your support.

Please make a donation to support my efforts and help us reach our goal to beat dementia.

Not many people know, but dementia is Australia's leading cause of death. By 2058 it's expected that over 800,000 Australians will have dementia. But we can change this.

All money I raise will support the work of Dementia Australia and help provide vital support services like counselling, support groups, education, and research to help find a cure.

Together we can achieve a lot. Your donation would mean the world to me.

Thanks for your support!

I'm only $59.65 away from becoming a Silver Level Fundraiser. Will you help get me there?

My Updates

Walking towards a better outcome

Dementia is a heartbreaking disease which impacts families at all ages and in different ways.  My daughter Caitlin, was keen for our family to support Dementia Australia through Memory Walk and Jog to raise funds to support families as they navigate the impacts of this disease and to also support research into earlier detection, treatment and hopefully prevention.   Our journey started with my mother-in-law, Marlene, Caitlin's grandmother.  Marlene had Alzheimers and went from an active, social and mentally strong person, who was the hub of our family and adored by her grandchildren, to someone who slipped away from us over a relatively short period of time.  It was that incremental loss, each visit bringing a new sense of grief, that was so devastating.   And now, my dad, has been diagnosed with vascular dementia following a stroke a couple of years ago.  And it is completely different.  He still knows who we are and remembers many shared memories, but is no longer able to look after himself safely, with his decision-making ability seriously compromised.   And he is unaware of any change to his ability or comprehension; having to impose limitations, like taking away his car and licence and stopping him driving, is heartbreaking.

Everyone's story is different but all need support.  I am so proud of Caitlin for taking this initiative and putting together our team and I hope that you can support.
