I’m doing the Canberra Memory Walk & Jog for my Mum, Terri, and to raise funds for people with dementia!
On Sunday 28 February, I’ll be taking part in the Canberra Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds to support people with dementia and in memory of my Mum, Terri!
My mum was diagnosed when I was 18, and sadly passed away in 2019, aged 66, after battling younger onset dementia for 7 years. She was an amazing woman who unfortunately was robbed of her prime years by a disease that slowly erodes your independence.
It was a difficult time and I was grateful for the support of friends, family and Dementia Australia!
I’ve managed to raise over $10000 over the last 4 years, and am hoping to continue that trend with the help and support of some lovely people!
Dementia is one of the leading causes of death and disability, but despite this we put it down to ‘normal ageing’ - but the effects on friends and family are long lasting and dementia needs more support and recognition in the public sphere.
So, I need your help! Please make a donation to support my efforts and help me reach my goal to beat dementia.
All funds raised will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.
Thank you for your support.
