Help Raise Funds to Support Dementia Research and Support
Our Mum/Wife Lyn was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's in 2018 after it was noticed that she hadn't been acting like her usual self, forgetting things and appearing distant on a regular basis.
After this diagnosis Dad and her moved to Townsville for just over 12 months in which she underwent significant cognitive decline until November 2021 when Dad and her moved down to the Adelaide Hills in order for Dad to have access to more support from family and facilities in order to get Mum the help and care that was needed.
Mum is now in full time care and over the last few years we have definitely seen the disease take its toll; we are part of the 1.5million carers, family members and friends are involved in the care of someone living with dementia in Australia.
There is still little known about the disease and there is no cure currently, just medication that helps to slow the progress for the disease. This is why we have decided to take part in the Adelaide Memory Walk & Jog on Sunday 24th March 2024. All funds raised will go towards providing vital services such as counselling, support groups, education and of course research to find a cure.
