I’m doing a MY Memory Walk & Jog for my Grandmother Yvonne and my Grandmother In-Law Shirley to raise funds for people with dementia!

I’ll be completing a MY Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds to support people with dementia.

My grandmother was diagnosed with dementia only last year and still lives at her home with my grandfather. They have services come to take care of  my grandmother only once a week (my grandfather is quite the stubborn man), however, knowing that I can raise funds for more care and services for people with dementia is just a small way to show him that there are resources out there ! 

My husband lost his grandmother in August of last year after suffering with this disease for many years. I would have loved to have met her in her prime, as the stories that I’ve been told over the 7 years I’ve known their family have been wonderfully hilarious and the makings of a beautiful and spectacularly loved life. 

All funds raised will support the work of Dementia Australia to provide vital support services for people living with dementia, their families and carers. These services include counselling, support groups, education and training.

I have only put my target as a small donation, as my personal goal isn’t so much to make people donate, as it is to raise awareness. Awareness that these resources are there and in needed of support and not just money, but people, and time. I see the effects of dementia every day through my job and how heartbreaking it is for families and carers to adapt to. 

So please, volunteer somewhere, donate or just share this around to raise awareness to someone who can.
