He is my brother. Your Uncle Steve
He's your mate. Your old work buddy. Your cousin. Maybe even your old school friend.
But everyone who knows Steven knows exactly the kind of man he is.
Outgoing. Always up for a laugh. He loved going to the footy with his cousin Darrell to cheer on the mighty Panthers. He loved a weekend night out with friends and cousins. He loved being around his people.
But more than anything, Steven is loyal.
The kind of loyal that would drop everything in a heartbeat if someone needed help. The kind of loyal you don’t find every day.
That loyalty is clear in the 34 years he dedicated to Austral Bricks — showing up, working hard, standing by his mates.
At just 54 years old, Steven was diagnosed with young-onset dementia.
This is the man dementia is affecting.
This is the man we are walking for.
We’re taking on the Cronulla 6km Memory Walk & Jog at Don Lucas Reserve for Team Uncle Steve 💙
Walking in Cronulla will be his niece Ika, her partner Brady, their fur baby Alfie 🐾 and me — while at the exact same time, his nephew Tyler and best friends Benny and Makayla will be walking in Thailand in honour of his Uncle Steve.
Two countries. One family. One mission.
There is still no cure for dementia. It may be too late to change the outcome for my brother — and that’s something we carry every day — but it doesn’t have to be too late for future generations.
If you can donate, share, or simply cheer us on, you are standing with Steven and with every family facing this disease.
We walk for every family.
We walk for hope. 💙
