Wares for Awareness

Help us break down stigmas & create a dementia-friendly future!

Our team is taking part in the MJW 2024 to raise funds & awareness for those living with Dementia, and to honour our beautiful mother and friend, Kerry, living with Younger Onset Alzheimer's. 

After such an incredible outcome for MWJ2023 with Wares for Awareness raising more than $4000 for Dementia Australia; our team have decided to take part in the Memory Jog and Walk 2024! On Sunday 26th May, we will be running 10km to raise funds to support Dementia Australia & those impacted by the disease.

Dementia Australia do amazing work providing vital support services such as counselling, support groups, education and research to help find a cure.

Our team is advocating to break down misconceptions & stereotypes so that those living with dementia can feel heard, seen and most importantly; dignified. Misconceptions leads to lack of empathy, and understanding, causing those with the disease, and those around them, to feel isolated.

Stigmas and stereotypes make those living with dementia feel shame, guilt and embarrassment for their behaviours, or misrememberings.

These stigmas are perpetrated when people feel ashamed to talk about this disease, shy to ask questions, and to show the reality of what it looks like. We are aiming to create  awareness and start these vital conversations, as this is the only way to combat these harmful stigmas.

Let's join together to promote a more compassionate and understanding attitude, with open discussion and education to create an inclusive & dementia-friendly future!
