I am running 10km in the Brisbane Walk & Jog for my Mum, Kerry & to raise funds for people living with Dementia!

Help me raise money to provide essential support & resources for those living with dementia & their carers!

After such an amazing fundraising outcome for 2023 where I raised $3656 for Dementia Australia; I have decided to take part in the Memory Walk and Jog for 2024. On Sunday, 26th May 2024, I will be taking part in Brisbane Memory Walk & Jog with my team, Wares for Awareness, to raise funds to support Australians impacted by dementia. This is a cause close to my heart, and I would love your support.

As a Dementia Australia Dementia Advocate, I help raise awareness about what life is like for those living with the disease. I am advocating to break down the misconceptions & stereotypes, so that those living with dementia can feel heard, seen & dignified. People have ideas of what dementia must looks like (i.e. old people, constant confusion, memory loss), but dementia comes in loads of different forms, and at any stage, thus sometimes can be really difficult to spot in a short interaction. Misconceptions around what dementia looks like, leads to a lack of understanding and empathy, causing those with the disease, and the people around them, to feel isolated. Creating awareness and starting conversations is the way we start to combat these stigmas. 

Let's join together to promote a more compassionate and understanding attitude for create a dementia-friendly future!

Not many people know, but dementia is Australia's second-leading cause of death. By 2058 it's expected that over 800,000 Australian's will have dementia. But we can change this. By support Dementia Australia, you help provide vital support services like counselling, support groups, education, and research to help find a cure.
