I'm raising money for my Dad, Wal and the many families affected by early-onset Frontotemporal Dementia.
On Sunday 22 March I’ll be taking part in Illawarra’s Memory Walk & Jog in honour of my Dad, Wal. Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) has affected multiple generations of my family — my Dad, my aunty, two uncles and my grandfather in the prime of their lives.
FTD is the most common form of dementia in people under 60, and genetic forms like MAPT-associated FTD ripple through families across generations. Greater awareness, support and research are essential to help families navigate the disease today and to create a better future for those who may face it tomorrow.
Funds raised through this walk support the work of Dementia Australia, providing support services, counselling, education and research that make a real difference for families living with dementia.
