I am doing the Adelaide Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds for my Dad Chris and in memory of my Mum Bev and the 433,300 Australians living with dementia.

On Sunday, 15 March, I'm taking part in Adelaide's Memory Walk & Jog to raise funds to support Australians impacted by dementia. This is a cause close to my heart and I would love your support.

This will be my 6th time doing the Memory Walk in 2026. This year I'm walking in support of my wonderful Dad, who was diagnosed with dementia in early 2025 and my beautiful Mum who lost her battle with dementia in June 2025. While I am still grieving the passing of Mum, I have begun the journey with Dad, who is now also battling the hideous beast that is dementia.

Dementia took EVERYTHING from my Mum Bev. She was a loving, bright, caring, smart & funny lady. She was a Wife, Mother, Nanna, Great-Nanna, Auntie & Best friend. And now sadly, I have to watch it happen to my Dad as well. My Dad Chris is a strong, loving, kind, proud & clever man. He was an adoring Husband who loved my Mum for 60 years (& still does) and is not only a Father, but a Grandy, Great-Grandy, Uncle & Dear Friend.

It is an unrelenting and cruel disease and you would not wish it upon anyone. It slowly takes your loved one away from you, in every possible way and it is painful to watch. All of who they are and who you knew them to be fades away in front of your eyes- and it leaves you feeling completely helpless.

It can happen to anyone: your Mum, your Dad, your Husband/Wife or Partner, Grandma/Grandpa, Sister or Brother, your Best Friend and sadly even Your Child...

So, this is why I am walking once again- and I hope that one day- no one will have to fight the fight that is Dementia. xo
